Having recently sourced a new list of leads, you probably want to have them processed and scored by Prospector as quickly as possible. The easiest way to accomplish this is by uploading that list into Prospector. Follow the simple steps shown in the screencast tutorial below and you'll be on your way. Prospector will begin processing and scoring those records to be returned to you through your CRM integration.

Searching for Leads in Prospector

by David Stys 2. April 2010 08:17

After your Prospector account has been up and running for a while, you are sure to have thousands of customer records that have passed through the Prospector pipeline. Many of those records have been enhanced with Acxiom or InfoUSA profile data and ultimately assigned a Prospector 5-star rating. Through the integration, all of those records have returned to your CRM. While you can do sophisticated querying in your CRM to create lists of scored leads, Prospector offers a simple wizard for creating a list of leads that meet a certain criteria set.

The following tutorial explains how to search Prospector for a certain set of leads. The result is a list that can be used within a campaign, or exported for use outside of Prospector.

Launch the Search Wizard

Log into Prospector and click on "Lists" item in the left-hand side navigation bar. Prospector will display a tableview of lists you've previously created. Click on "New Search" on the tollbar menu and the List Wizard will launch.

List Wizard 1

Setup Details

  • Provide a name for your list.
  • Select the checkbox if you'd like your list to be dynamic and refresh itself each night.
  • Select a scoring model if you'd like to look for leads that have been scored on a particular model.
  • Select the star ratings you are interested in. For instance, to search for Hot Leads, select the 5- and 4-star choices.
  • Indicate a date range to limit your search results to include leads that have entered Prospector during a certain time period.
  • Finally, indicate whether you are looking for leads that have or have not yet been assigned to a sales rep.

Limit Your Seach to Particular Neighborhoods

The next step in the wizard allows you to limit your search to a particular geographical region. You may enter a list of zip codes, or click on the map to indicate regions of interest.

Select Campaigns

Instead of searching for Prospects system-wide, you may choose to search within particular campaigns. To do so, simply select one or more campaigns from the list provided.

Specify Survey Questions

The next step in the wizard allows you to query based on particular responses to survey questions. If you have done an extensive amount of surveying, you'll be able to identify leads who responded in a certain way. For example, you could search for leads who indicated on a survey that they are avid fans are also interested in a bobblehead promotion.

List Exclusion

There may be times where you would like to exclude certain leads from your search results. For instance, you may want to find all Hot Leads that are NOT current season ticket holders. Use this step of the wizard to exclude your customer list from your search results.

Confirmation

The final step of the wizard allows you to review the criteria you set. Click "Confirm" and Prospector will begin compiling a list of leads that fit your criteria. Here are a few ideas of what to do with your new list.

  • Assign the list to a Prospector campaign. The leads will be assigned to sales reps according to the rules of that campaign.
  • Do an advanced export to further review the contents of your list, or to import into another system.
  • Create a custom report to analyze sales associated with leads on the list
Keep an eye out for future posts that review these and other activities.

by David Stys 4. November 2009 05:08

Great news! A recent update to Prospector enhances the information that is sent nightly to your CRM. You will now find Business Profile information sourced from InfoUSA available on any of your records that Prospector recognizes as a business lead. The information includes the number of employees, annual revenue, credit standings, among other factors describing a company. Having this information at your fingertips will surely help you evaluate your corporate sales leads. And, don't forget, this has always been used in any corporate scoring models.

You will also find that your CRM now displays multiple star ratings for each contact that has been evaluated by Prospector. This is a great help to your sales reps, but you will also enjoy the ability to do search your CRM for specific Prospector ratings. For example, you can now ask your CRM to return a list of records that are rated as a 3, 4, or 5-star by your Full Season Scoring Model. Below is a quick tutorial on how to do this advanced searching in Microsoft CRM. And, it's really easy!
